About Dance FTF
Our vision of a thriving sector continually evolves via the learning we undertake, both as individuals and as a collective. We are questioning the current systems and practices which limit the professional potential and well-being of freelancers, while also celebrating their talent and resilience. In contributing to the reshaping of the dance sector as a whole, we strive to further empower the individuals within it.

Dance Freelance Task Force (DFTF) are a proactive and creative group of individuals that met during the Summer of 2020 while being on the Freelance Task Force (FTF). The DFTF group consists of freelancers who self-elected to join together to champion and highlight issues in dance and movement art forms.
The group grew over the 13 weeks of sponsored FTF time and existed by feeding into the FTF conversations within the wider creative industries, communicating with various other sub-groups, and coming together to specifically target issues faced by the dance and movement work in theatre sectors.
Dance FTF is comprised of producers, choreographers, dance artists, movement directors, movement practitioners/teachers, managers and artistic directors whose work is predominantly movement and dance based activity that spans across the UK and beyond. They represent a range of backgrounds, regions, experiences, and have come together through one common link – being freelancers.
They plan to continue to strengthen freelancers voices and to create a more connected sector and to this effect they connect with networks through fortnightly Newslestters, Twitter, Facebook and hold regular zoom meetings to continue to connect, impact and have a dialogue with the wider dance and movement community.
In December 2020 DFTF were awarded an Arts Council England project grant to continue their work of acting as conduits for freelancers in the dance sector.
Dance FTF would like to extend our thanks to Arts Council England as well as the following organizations who have pledged financially support to them;
Sadlers Wells Theatre - Spin Arts - One Dance UK - People Dancing - Cheshire Dance - Pagrav Dance Company - Independent Dance
